Murder One - 2008 April
An Interview with: Instructor: Phyllis Middleton
Cheryl: Is there anything you'd like to add to the course description?
Phyllis:
Just that I will relay as much as possible the realistic aspects of
death scenes from the Coroner's Investigator POV. There is so much done that
the general public is unaware of and I'd like to put a positive light to the
job.
Cheryl: How will multi-published authors benefit from taking your course?
Phyllis: I'd consider myself just another resource for anyone who writes and
wants to get it right.
Cheryl: Have you given a course like this and learned of someone's
success who's taken it?
Phyllis: I have given simular courses.
It has come to my attention from published/unpublished writers that I've answered questions and helped them in difficult areas of
crime/death/fingeprint scenes, whether from a class or open call for help. I've never minded helping. It means a lot to me that I can help pave the way for someone on scene advice. I have to admit the first time I saw my name in the acknowledgements of someone's book I was very honored - not to mention it was pretty cool!
Cheryl: How does your course differ from other courses like this that might be available?
Phyllis:
I will give facts, true life examples, information to refer to whenever you need it and I will always be there to answer your question.
Cheryl: What do you hope students will take away from your course?
Phyllis:
I hope I can relay what it is really like to respond to a coroner call. From a peaceful natural passing to the most violatant method. That way, when they write that murder in their books, they can "experience" it too.
Cheryl: Stepping away from the course now, tell us a little about yourself. What kind of suspense do you like to read?
Phyllis:
I read Harlequin Intrigue and Love Inspired Suspense. Intrigue's
line of Thrillers has got me hooked at present. Of course, my husband and I
are die hard fan's of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series, J.D. Robb's
Born in series, and James Pattereson's Women's Murder Club series.
Thank you, Phyllis!
