MURDER ONE -- 2008 March
Inside the Criminal Mind: Different Crimes,
Different Motivations or Why They Kill Instructor: Lucinda Schroeder
Class Description
In this class writers will travel into the minds of well-known serial killers such as Edmond Emil Kemper III, David Berkowitz, ("Son of Sam") Ted Bundy, Jeffery Dahmer, and others, who describe in their own words why they killed. Explore the personality traits that drove to them kill, and how to apply these same characteristics to a fictional character. Learn what criminologists know about the childhoods of most serial killers that will give writers valuable information and ideas for back story.
Discover the psychological condition that explains why seemingly normal people can calmly kill people close to them–as in the real–life case of a Sunday school teacher who killed two husbands.
This is a fascinating course that will help writers create their own deviant characters and arm their protagonists with the psychological tools they'll need to catch their fictional killers.
