MURDER ONE -- 2008 April
Tools of the Psychic Investigator Instructor: Mary O'Gara
Class Description
From the expected to the unexpected, psychics work with an amazing array of tools that will enrich your stories and bring your psychic characters to life for your readers.
Some psychics use only their own bodies as tools. During the workshop, Mary will talk about clearing, cleansing and protecting a psychic's body -- and the penalties for the psychic who doesn't practice good psychic ecology.
Psychics also use tarot cards, runes, crystals, astrology charts - and a wide variety of tools you might not expect, from photocopies of palm prints to slips of paper for billet readings and (for geomancy) sand and sticks.
The workshop will explore the tools themselves and the reasons psychics choose specific tools to match their gifts. Mary will talk about care of tools and the extraordinary bonds that develop between a psychic and her favorite tools.
Some tools are fitted to the psychic's own gift, (or, very often, the gifts of her mentors and teachers) but other tools are chosen for specific tasks. Mary will talk about choosing the right tool for the job and how psychics work with tools that are not second-nature to them.
We'll talk about taking care of psychic tools so they remain accurate and useful. (And when to get rid of a tool, even if you still love it.)
The workshop includes material about how psychics work with the police in official investigations and how (at the other extreme) they have to be careful not to end up helping stalkers. Investigations are as diverse as finding a new home or investment property, locating a missing person or object, finding water, gold or oil, or discovering the source of imbalances in one's own body for healing.
What differentiates this workshop from previous workshops by the same instructor? The focus. This workshop will focus on the care and use of tools, their suitability for specific kinds of questions or work, and the problems that mismatches among tools, psychic gifts and problems can cause.
